11/5/2022 0 Comments Road rash on knee![]() ![]() I'm just venting, cause now I'm stuck in bed with a leg brace on the 3 stitches the doctor could get in. So My lesson is that now I must invest in kneepads, always wear gloves, find a new jacket which saved my arm big time, and a good pair of motorcycle boots, because my hiking boots are not meant to take a beating like that, hopefully some needle nose pliers will fix the buckles. It's the one day I didn't wear gloves, so my left hand was scraped as well. And the pain of them scrubbing out the wounds, and feeling them scrub your knee cap at the level of the bone, is the strangest pain I'd ever experienced. It's your flesh ground down by tarmac like a grinding wheel against a stick of butter. Road Rash isn't a rash, it's fucking hamburger meat. It's at this point that I'll cut to the chase. They were all very helpful, my neighbor let me keep my bike in his driveway, and I went to the hospital. A bunch of people show up, very helpful, then the cops, then the emt's. All I can remember is scrambling over to the bike to lay down against it, and get my helmet off. Today I take the turn from the outside, and I hit gravel, and as I exited the turn I think "Okay, come on bike, get back upright" but it said "fuck you, we're going down" the bike slides on the exit of the turn, into the edge of someone's front yard, missing the mailbox, and hit the ground, and roll slightly. Not a quarter mile away from the house, I swerve to avoid a car, and take a turn I've taken everysingle day without a problem, but today was different. The next day, my day off, I think I'll run some errands before going on another ride with a friend during the day. The music in my helmet was streaming DeadMau5 into my ears, and the beat went to the speed of the turns, right to the point of a tricky 180 degree turn around a ridge, and as I slowed down the music did a warping slow down to the tempo, and as I accelerated out of the turn, the music picked right back up. The day before I had a great ride in the country, really hitting the turns smoothly and confidently. Stolen bikes belong in local subreddits.Chat on Discord Showing off Bikes or Gear?
